Next, I've got good news for you. :)
Really good news.
Our school has sent 2 teams to take part in the NATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION COMPETITION.
1 team made it to the semi finals and got 1 merit award out of 5. :)
Three cheers for all.
I just want to say to cast and crew of both teams GOOD JOB and WELL DONE!!

Hey guys, I assume you all have heard the news eh? (:
Yes yes, we've got a Bronze.
We did a fantastic job at SYF anyway.

To the fartfaces who are now jeering at us, God bless you anyway.

Ok, this is probably going to be one of the final times I would be posting here so brace yourselves.

First and foremost, I would love to thank and fully express my gratitude to everybody, those involved in SYF and those who were not, beloved teachers, and Mr Beng whom we hold so near and dear to our hearts for he has moulded us into what we are today. I'll elaborate more on this later. I strongly feel, without your support and understanding, we would not have been able to go out and represent the school today.

Three cheers for Drama (:

Ok now. All my years in Drama, I think most of us has seen each other growing closer to one another, one performance after the other. Individual competition has never been an issue with each other, bare in mind, that, is what made us the most loved and blessed club in this entire world. Maybe in the whole defination of life and existence too.

The ability to love and support each other is what mades us special. Not crash and and compete with one another over silly material things like casting roles and leadership positions. That is well, just silly. Isn't it?
Drama is never ever in this world about competition, and if I have failed to educate you guys on that, I have failed as a leader.

This is why I hope to see that same love and bondage that we all fostered with one another when I come back to see the club in the future. Remember, Love is what makes this club tick. I'm sure many of you who have been in this club for a long time has came to that sudden realisation (:

Don't be complacent.

In my nearly four years in this club, as well as my fellow friends who has been through the ups and downs with me in Drama from the very first day. I believe you guys can agree with me that its the bondage each individual had with one another was what made us stay, despite the various obstacles the school threw at us.

We've gone through thick and thin with one another, and to my most loved juniors, I hope you guys will come to understand how important these obstacles are to mould each individual into a stronger person so we can all come together to create and utmost beautiful, picture. Drama was a place where I could genuinely be myself although 'Drama' itself is dubbed for playing the role of another person/character.

Don't tear each other down, build each other up and assure me you will reap nothing but good and strong benefits. Don't judge.

Don't divide, multiply.

Like what Mr Beng had told us two years ago, and even two years later. We go out there to tell a story, not win an award. That's the whole concept of Theatre in my perception; telling a story in the best way we can. When we have conveyed the message and meaning of that very story with our utmost best effort.

We are all indeed winners.

I hope you guys don't take my words as some air talk to make you guys feel better.
Well, it isn't, suck on that (:

Being a perfectionist, something can never be perfect in my eyes, it can only exceed my expectations. Well, now you guys' know a little bit more about my character (; This is probably why I don't praise often.

Well anyway, Mr Beng says that Art is something that cannot be judged as it is subjective. Just like there is no good or bad question, there is no good of bad performance. Just bear that in mind my lovelies. What truly matters is the learning experience and not the award we get. And no, I'm still not saying these words just for the sake of comfort. Some time this week and maybe the end of the last, Chinghui, Jaslyn and I have came to that very realisation, that... It's really the learning process that reaps all the good things in this world, the award, is just a bonus!

So don't be too disappointed yah? Juniors, work harder for SYF 2011.

Theatrical Drama is not about stardom, it's about telling a story, this thought I hope it gets drilled into your little brains.

Haha, anyway, I've been doing some thinking ever since I've stepped up to lead you guys, and through my experiences, and even though I may have stumbled from time to time. Just want to let you guys know. I don't love my position, I love you guys, Drama, the HIHS Drama Club.

And I hope in time to come, you people will love it as much as I had.
Afterall, joining the Drama Club is a decision I had never once doubted or regretted in my life.
My journey with you guys are ending here soon.

Just wanna let you guys know, you all did a great job during the orientation. It's a mighty effort you guys put in (: I want to apologise though for the major rush, which eventually added on to a lot of messiness and near zero organisation and some of you guys weren't informed in the process, we are now currently working on a new and improved phone link system so no one gets left out.

Let me paint out the current situation for you. We are unsure about the response there is for the Drama Chalet you people have heard about. But the details are as follows for the time being, provided if we can get 30 people to go for the chalet.

Date: 30th November 2008
Time: From 10am onwards
Venue: Either Downtown East or Pasir Ris Costa Sands (Not confirmed yet because we are still waiting for the responses)

Most Secondary 1 & 2s would be performing Charlotte's Web @ The Space.
Each & everyone of us can think of a character to dress up as, and would be giving out flyers at different areas of the school.

This is for all of those who are interested in working backstage and those who didn't get into the casting call, you still have something to do no worries :D

****DATES FOR DRAMA PRACTICES WILL BE RELEASED BY TUESDAY LATESTS. Be prepared to come on Wednesday, it's not confirmed as we are waiting for the teacher's approval.

But the idea of practices have been brought up to the teachers no worries (:

I know that some of you have received the consent forms for the Drama Camp

Date: 2nd and 3rd June 2008
Please report at 5Faith Classroom at 8.00am
dressed in PE attire (strictly no home clothes, Camp T-shirts are allowed ) & proper covered shoes.

This is very important as we do not want you getting hurt by any potential injury caused by improper attire.

Bring:

Spare clothing (Shirt, shorts, undergarments? School PE or Home attire is fine) (2nd Day)
Come in shoes but bring Slippers (2nd Day)
Towels (2nd Day)
Stationary for writing(Both Days)
Water bottle (Both Days)
EZ-Link Card and some money :D

How was the exams? Hopefully now we can all let loose and enjoy the breeze of the post exam period (:

Do take note that Drama will resume on the 16th May 2008 (This coming Friday).

Ok the main highlight of the day
DRAMA TEE SIZE AND MONEY COLLECTION!
Sizes and Money for the Drama Tee will be collected on 16th May during the Drama session, no money no shirt haha.

Bring around ~~$7.00~~ sorry, changed to $8.00, any changes in price would be notified immediately.
*P.S: We are already subsidizing about half the amount so bargaining is a bit tricky ;D*

To find out what is your size, you can check by seeing your PE shirt (Dry fit), the actual Drama Tee would be one size smaller.

Example, Your shirt size is "M", the Drama Tee should be "S"
This is what the supplier says.

For those who have not handed in the funds for last term, it means you have to hand in $6 (Term 1 & Term 2).

Some factors to consider before you vote the colours
The reason why we can't use other bright colours such as orange, yellow or sky blue is because Drama does not only involve acting, but stage management (backstage work) as well. Dark colours are taken into consideration for those who are working backstage so it would be easier for them to hide yet see the ones performing without being spotted by the audience.

Do note.
You could always suggest more colours and I can set up another option.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE (From Chinghui)

Please contribute to the drama fund.
$3.00 for every person.

The collection in the drama fund will be for any potential camps, outings or activities, props for performances that may commerce this year. Any extras can be extra left could be saved for the SYF Central Judging in 2009 (In case you were interested where the money goes)

Please hand in the $3.00 to Chinghui (3Diligence).
You could look her up after school or during recess at her classroom. Just be reminded that you must pass the money to her by next Friday 25/01/2008.

Hello 2008: DRAMA TEE

Hi people, welcome to the 2nd HIHS Drama Club blog.

Firstly, lets welcome 2008! (:
Due to some signing in problems, we had to start another new drama blog. So this blog will be for the discussion and notification of some admin stuff, like;

-Practices
-Admin Work
-Drama Outings
-Drama Camps

So, we start off with the Drama tee.
Note* This is important so we need everyone's attention ;D (and hopefully participation )

The designing of the drama tee will not be done by one particular person, but;
EVERYONE IS WELCOMED TO DESIGN SO PICK UP THAT PENCIL OR ART PROGRAM AND START SHOWING US WHAT YOU'VE GOT.

You could also send in suggestions like the colour and type of drama tee we could have but please write it down on a piece on paper and then submit, otherwise, an email.

Please note that the DEADLINE 5th February 2008, all designs must and WILL be collected by then, and no designs will be otherwise accomdated or accepted after that. The designs will be reviewed and picked by the end of the week by the selected people in Drama.

Ok, to sum things up.
DEADLINE FOR DESIGNS: 5TH FEBRUARY 2008
SUBMIT DESIGNS TO: VIVIENNE (or CHINGHUI; who will then pass it up to Vivienne)
*I caution that you pass it to either one of us personally, so we can be very sure it is your design*

This will be how you submit your suggestions and ideas;
Just write your NAME and CLASS on the top left hand or right hand corner of the page of your designs, so we won't be confused or anything.

The number of pages you use for designs can be as many as possible, but try to submit it as A4 size, so it would easier to scan in (should it be a drawing).

As for people who are EMAILING their designs:
please email vivienne or the drama blog's email. This applies to the soft copy of your design, it would be nice if you could print out the hard copy and submit it like the rest so selection would be made easier.
